Coffee Morning at Chapel Road School

Volunteers needed for Chapel Road School, Saturday Club

Chapel Road School, Attleborough is forming a Saturday Club to enable their pupils, who have severe and profound learning difficulties to socialise.  The pupils of Chapel Road School come from all over South Norfolk and the Breckland Area.  The Club is due to run once every half term.

There will be a club for the Secondary pupils and Primary age pupils.

The first club meeting is to be held on Saturday 18th October 2008 between 10am and 3pm at the Methodist Church Hall, Attleborough.

The school is looking for volunteers to help run the clubs.  Parents with primary age children would be welcome to bring their children along to the club if the parent stays as a volunteer.  Any adults would need to be CRB checked. Young people over the age of 15 would also be welcome to join us as volunteers for the secondary club.

If you are interested in volunteering and would be able to help in anyway, please contact Marion Archer or John Kirk at Chapel Road School for more details on 01953 453116, email: office@chapelroad.norfolk.sch.uk

2007

On behalf of Chapel Road School Friends, staff and pupils we would like to thank all those who helped and supported our Christmas Coffee Morning on Friday 30th November. We had a lovely morning and raised £433.25 in total.

I would also like to thank all those who helped and supported us on Sunday 2nd December at St Mary’s Church Hall on Sunday 2nd December with our coffee and tea stall which raised £79.00.

We are currently raising funds for our primary playground to replace an old swing area with 3 new swings plus 1 swing which can be used by wheelchair users and 1 further swing which has a full support swing seat to be used by our more physically disabled pupils. We are also planning to have a new safety surface area installed in the area about the swings. The current swings are more than 17 years old and are in desperate need of replacing. Many of our pupils are presently unable to use the swings due to their design. This is a costly project and all our fundraising efforts and donations received are being put towards this project.

Once again, many thanks to all those who help and support us with our fundraising and give to Chapel Road School generously, this is very much appreciated

Yours sincerely

Mr J Kirk
Acting Headteacher

Thank you from Chapel Road School

The Friends, staff and pupils of Chapel Road School would like to extend a big ‘thank you’ to all parents/carers, members of the public for supporting the school at our recent Summer Fete. Despite the weather the Friends raised a total of £1,822.35. The Friends are very supportive of the school and this event raised money to run the school Variety Club bus, for which the Friends pay all the running costs and also supports the school with projects such as the recent refurbishment of our hydroptherapy swimming pool and the planned improvements to the swing area.

Thank you to all those who supported the school on our Mini Olympics day which took place on Friday 25th May. Jon Thaxton, British Lightweight Boxing Champion attended the afternoon with Les King and handed out medals to all our pupils. In total we raised £1,105.75, the funds raised will be used towards putting new swings in our Primary Department.

We collected a total of 11,056 Tesco vouchers and 12,372 Sainbury’s vouchers. Thank you to everybody who sent in their vouchers, we are now in the process of using these vouchers to purchase resources for our lunch club activities.

Without your support we would not be able to get the equipment for our pupils. We are very grateful for all the support we have received.

PUPILS AND STAFF AT LOCAL SPECIAL SCHOOL HELP RAISE MONEY FOR ‘THE BIG ONE’ COMIC RELIEF

Pupils and staff of Chapel Road School, Attleborough joined in with the fun of Comic Relief and helped to raise funds. Pupils and staff were encouraged to dress up and wear big, red clothes.

The week leading up to Comic Relief all pupils and staff were given a red heart with their photos on and had to write what makes them happy on the heart. This was pinned to a huge notice board in the reception area of school. It made for very good reading, with some very interesting reasons as to what made people happy!

During the morning a big ‘paint by numbers’ activity took place, followed by a ‘red hunt’ where pupils had to find as many red items in their classrooms as possible, with a prize for the winning class.

Later on pupils enjoyed ‘The Big Jigsaw Race’, students from each class had to put together a giant jigsaw in the fastest time.

During morning break pupils and staff had the opportunity to buy cakes etc to help raise money.

After lunch pupils enjoyed a whole school assembly and looked at all the red clothes that everybody was wearing and explain to the students why we are taking part in Comic Relief. This was followed by a school disco to end the activities for the day.

A total of £235.49 was raised.

A big thank you to all of those who participated and helped raise funds for Red Nose Day.
