Festival

The first Attleborough Festival was launched on the 29th July 2006 with a variety of activities and exhibitions throughout the town.

The festival had been spearheaded by Attleborough Town Councils Tourism Committee, who worked with a number of other organisations to promote the weekend. The majority of the Retail Businesses in the Town Centre where open on both days of the festival.

 

Attleborough In Bloom 2006

The town centre and surrounding area had over forty baskets of vibrant coloured flowers + 1500 summer bulbs and corms had been planted in Queens Square to give a sea of colour, which also is home to a large three tier display of flowers.

 

Farmers Market

A opportunity to meet and talk to the people who produce the goods they sell. The stalls included meat & poultry farmers, vegetable & fruit growers, a beekeeper, a fishmonger, producers of traditional cakes, pies and bread, dairy products, apple juice, ales and ciders, flowers and plants, pottery, textiles and much more.

 

Art Exhibition

Work was displayed from the Attleborough Disabled Art Group, Attleborough High School & Sixth Form Centre & various local artists, some of which was available for sale.

Church Groups

St Mary’s Church, Church St – A carpet of flowers where on display in the church, with refreshments in the church hall.

Methodist Church, London Road – Organ music, an exhibition by Tall & Small, flowers in the theme of summer, with refreshments in the church hall.

Baptist Church, Leys Lane – Children’s puppet stories and songs with an interactive spiritual journey for adults.

 

Gaymers Cyder Factory Exhibition

The Attleborough Heritage Group where exhibiting photographs and memorabilia, displaying the history of the famous old cider works.

Open Gardens

Approx twelve gardens where open, both within the town centre and on the outskirts of the town. A selection of gardens where displaying; small residential gardens, cottage gardens, commercial gardens and large estate grounds.

Music

A five piece Jazz Band played in Queens square.
