Attleborough Town Twinning

Attleborough - Nueil les Aubiers |
Attleborough and Nueil-les-Aubiers in France became twin communities following ceremonies in France and England in 1996 and 1997. The Attleborough Town Twinning Association was set up to promote international friendship between the twinned communities and to encourage and assist clubs, societies and families to meet their counterparts in France. The Association consists of interested individuals and families and is run by a volunteer committee with a Town Council Representative who is invited to attend committee meetings. The Mayor of Attleborough is an ex-officio member of the committee.
Membership is open to all who live and work in the town and surrounding villages or who belong to a social club or society or who have family/friendship links with the Attleborough town and district.
Nueil-les-Aubiers is in the Department of Deux-Sèvres, 80 miles east of La Rochelle and 50 miles south of Angers, bordering the beautiful Loire Valley.
If you can't speak French, don't worry! We all get by and we do encourage members to try one of the excellent beginners classes in French that are locally available.
Membership Fees are £5.00 a year for individuals and £8.00 for families.
All members of the Association pay their own fares when visiting France and are welcomed into French homes as personal guests. Wherever possible this arrangement is reciprocated when twinning partners visit Attleborough.
There are many benefits to membership of the Association, including
A wide variety of social events
Opportunities to meet with other Francophiles and establish personal friendships.
Opportunities to visit France, its Atlantic Coast and the Loire Valley
Encouraging links with local schools and colleges
Possible opportunities for work experience
