We are a drama group which meets every Thursday at the Old Buckenham Village Hall. We perform a wide variety of shows from comedies to Shakespeare, although the latter only once! In January, we normally produce a pantomime or seasonal play, while in May we aim to do a full length play which is usually either a comedy or drama. In September the mood is usually a bit more relaxed, with an evening of one-act plays sometimes with music or entertainment in an informal setting with simple food or nibbles!
We have around 25-30 members, some of who are staunchly involved in every show while others dip in and out depending upon other committments. Our group is truly diverse, with members from all sorts of backgrounds and of all ages from 14 to older than some will admit to! Surprisingly, most of our members do not actually live in Old Buckenham although we all have links here and are fond of the village. We usually try to organise social trips and even known to have a barbeque in the summer! Old Buckenham Players is a friendly and relaxed group, so we all work around each others' commitments.
If you fancy getting involved, you don't need any experience just enthusiasm, commitment and a readiness to learn and develop together with others around you. You can get involved with backstage work if you don't want to act! If you want to get involved then get in touch with us.
So why not have a look at what we're up to, or what we're planning to do and see if you fancy getting involved or simply coming to watch one of our productions!
