up to the carnival events the following week.
Rod Green, Carnival Chair, made the following comment – “Carnival
is all about people, so let us make it about people. Attleborough is a great
town, let us show people what we can do when the town really gets behind something.
This year, the committee want to turn the carnival into a family based event.
Providing something for everyone, with local groups getting involved, raising
the profile of the community in and around Attleborough.”
Following response from the town we will offer both, a walking and motorised
procession, groups wishing to take part or have a stall on the field please contact
the new committee to request a form and details.
All events this year, excluding ‘Party on the Park’, will be ‘Entry
by Programme’. Programmes will be sold all over Attleborough in advance
and during the Carnival Week at a cost of £2.50 each. One programme gives
you a week’s entertainment. The programme will contain details of all carnival
events.

Summer is fast approaching, for Attleborough that means fun in the sun and of
course Carnival time.
Since Attleborough Carnival 2007 there have been significant changes to the committee
that organise the week long events. We welcome Rod Green as the new Committee
Chair. Rod brings a wealth of experience having served in similar positions for
other fund raising organisations.
We would also like to offer thanks to all outgoing committee members, especially
Mrs Karen Pettitt, whom, sadly handed in her resignation due to work commitments.
Mrs Pettitt played a large part in the organisation of past events, and despite
requests to stay is now unable to offer the time required. We wish her well for
the future.
Some changes are planned for 2008 to meet the requirements of new health and
safety legislation. We aim to meet these whilst trying to keep the traditional
aspects of our town carnival. As always Party on the Park, a hugely popular event
for all ages, will return this year featuring at least 2 tribute acts. The usual
elements of carnival week are planned, Rose Queen, Prince and Princess, a Dog
Show, and a Talent Contest, but with the aim to be bigger and better.
However, to enable us to give Attleborough a week to remember, we need help and
support from both, the business and general community. Fresh ideas and suggestions
are always welcome.
Due to the new committee all contacts for the carnival have changed. It is important
that you only use the contacts below, or listed on our website, for information
on all aspects of the 2008 carnival.
So, please, people of Attleborough, consider contributing to your community in
this worthwhile event. Anyone wishing to take part or get involved please feel
free to contact us.
Please also see our new website for further contact details and full event details
as they are published at www.attleboroughcarnival.org.
