Attleborough Community Team

Our ACT Vision

To ensure that the expanded Attleborough provides a sustainable, integrated and cohesive community supported by local jobs and appropriate leisure, health, educational, security and transport facilities, all within an environment that maintains and enhances the quality of life of its inhabitants.

Our Aims

Did you know? Breckland Council have produced a plan that has been approved by the planning inspector. The plan is that by 2026 there will be 10,000 more people, 4,000 new homes, and 6,000 additional cars in Attleborough.

Attleborough and local communities are already short of infrastructure and key facilities including:

  • Local jobs
  • A free-flowing road system
  • Sport and leisure facilities and play areas
  • Green spaces
  • Accessible transport
  • Accessible junior schooling

Since 2001 nearly 600 plus houses have been built or approved for construction without any meaningful improvement in facilities and services. This is equivalent to some 1500 additional people.

Every additional house makes the situation worse and this unsustainable expansion by stealth must stop!

ACT is seeking:

  • A commitment from all our elected representatives that the current shortfalls are addressed before any more significant development takes place.

  • A commitment that the detailed Action Plan currently being prepared by Breckland Council identifies how all new development will contribute to an overall improvement for all residents.

  • Proper consultation on any proposals for the town and its surroundings.

Attleborough Community Team (ACT) are committed to a sustainable future for the town and we need your support NOW. If you agree to the above please sign this petition.

Also: look out for the Area Action Plan, which is in the development phase, to be posted on the Council’s website: www.breckland.gov.uk soon. It is important that you are aware of the plans and respond with your views during the consultation period and before it is too late to make a difference! The more people that join ACT or support ACT’s cause, the more effective ACT will be!
